I was talking to my mom yesterday, and we were talking about different species of cats for some reason. But I don't really like looking at it like they're different species, it just doesn't seem right. If we veiw animals that have different apperences, such as fur color and size, then we'd have to veiw humans the same way. If a Savannah cat is a different species than a Siamese cat, then a Irish person and a Chinese person would have to be classified as different species. Because most people view humans of one color to be the same as humans of a different color, shouldn't they view all cat species as not different species, but just a varied color of the same?
I don't know. Just a random thought..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NATE!!
WOW! I am so surprised that that strange little picture did not show up again this year!!
I hope you have the happiest birthday EVER! May this be the beginning of a wonderful and blessed year for you, Nate. I am so happy you will at least be closer to home (technically anyway).

Happy Belated Birthday to Our Blog... and (not belated) to Nate! :)
Seeing Aunt Cindy's post saying "happy birthday" to Nate made me realize that we've been posting to this blog for a year... more than a year actually, we started it on August 8, 2007! I am reminded because last year she said "happy birthday" to Nate on the 27th and I was confused because I had on my calendar that his birthday was on the 28th... and this year, I still have it on my calendar as the 28th, lol. At least now that I've been confused twice, I'll make sure to get it right next year! So happy birthday Nate and happy birthday to our blog!
I am glad that people are still posting about their lives. It's great to hear from everyone, even if it is just now and then. I have been meaning to post about my own life, you know, now that I'm newlywed and about the honeymoon, but I am still collecting/deciding the photos I'd like to share. I promise I'll post soon though. And because I can't say it enough, thanks to everyone who helped out with the wedding. It was AMAZING! :)
Happy Birthday, Nate!
I hope it is a great one! I wish you many blessings in the coming year.
Love, Mom

Three years
So, It takes me a freaking year to post on the blog because in most cases I'll comment or try to write a blog and it won't let me publish it for whatever reason. Anywho, I don't know who knew and who didn't but last saturday was my three years clean. It was a kind of good day, I had to work most of it, and I felt like crying most if it. Not because I was unhappy, but because sometimes its hard for me to grasp onto the fact that I have been clean for that long. My manager jon kept saying stupid things like lets celebrate by getting a drink or whatever, which was annoying. I was also quite sad because when I hit my year marks the only place I want to be is surrounded by my family and people I love the most, but mom and dad were on a cute vacation in maine so I had to let it go.! haha. My friend Ashley who is also in recovery with me came in to work with her three year old twin brother and sister, and they made me little cupcakes and brought them too me. It was so nice and made me super happy.
After I got out of work, sam and josh brought me to olive garden to celebrate. it was funny because josh isn't good at trying to surprise someone, and so it was funny watching him and sam secretly talking to each other in the store and through text. But I had alot of fun with them and it was a good day in the end.
So I never said anything special to anyone, because I get a bit shy I suppose (and I'd probably cry) lol. But I did want to say real quick to mom and dad THANK YOU!!!!!! because if I didn't have you two as parents, I wouldn't have survived. I lost alot of friendships with alot of people when I was using, you two included, and I'm glad that I have them back. Mom, you are my best friend, and I'm so grateful that I have you there to talk to about anything (and sometimes things you probably could live without hearing) and Dad has always been the best shoulder to cry on, even if he isn't much into talking about the personal things, sometimes just being there physically was enough for me!
And Sam ba lam.....I couldn't ask for a better sister! I know we did alot of bad things together, but I'm glad you were there to support me when I decided to get clean, because it felt like all my other friends up and left. When Iwas clean and you were lost in the world of drugs and alchohol, I prayed that you would gather the strength to say enough, and sure enough you did! I'm glad that I have you there to talk to about some of the difficulties of doing what so few kids our age do. You are a much better person with out the alchohol.! =)
To everyone else- thanks a million! I still remember sitting in Aunt Kathys bedroom with Grandma, and having "that talk" with her about how difficult it is to make the decision to give up drugs. That was the first time I really realized how much Iwas hurting my family, and without that talk gramma, I probably wouldn't have gotten clean when I did. Everyone else in the family has been a great support system for me, and Thank you for being patient and praying for me and giving me the best advice when I needed it.
Soo....there. phew! haha I'm pretty much just trying to say that I love you guys!

prayers
i am right now asking for your support and prayer for mae. there is a terrorist group where she lives called MILF( Moro Islamic Liberation Front) and they are bombing around where she lives. it is bad enough to where the president of the philippines has ordered a red alert to her area and stationed a couple thousand soldiers to help prevent anymore terrorist events there. that is all for now, will keep updating as i get info

update
just a quick update, after looking at the paper work, i think maybe gonna be this time next year as well.........i have to wait until i get to my next command, submit paper work asking to get married, have her come here on a fiance visa, get all the bloodwork done, get her interviewed with INS, have a backround check done on her( cause i hold a secret clearance(which lets me go to spaces on the ship that others cannot go))then after all of that i will have so many(meaning i have a short amountof) days to marry her. sheesh.........i hate paperwork.
THE newest member to the phillips family.
well the final verdict is..............................yes. i will provide details later about it, but right now it probebly wont be until late next year early 2010. the reason behind that is cause i do not know my next ships schedule. but right now the plans are to bring her home to meet the family this year november time frame. and aunt kathy, i dont think you can scare her away, for i have yet to. and mom, can you let the other side of my family know, if possible.

Possibly a new Member to the family
well this is a wierd thing to do..............ummmm..............well i might be bringing a *cough*fiance*cough* when i come home next time. her name is Colen Mae, or just Mae will work for her. i have been seeing her for a while, i just recently asked her if she wanted to.....ummm.... get hitched......man that hurts......never thought i would be saying that... and for the old people that remember the name Mae, i asked her if we could call her that for that reason and she said she would be honored. i tolm mom that and she emailed back saying it brought tears to her eyes.

THANKS TO YOU ALL!!!
Where do I begin to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to the big wedding day?? The time and the effort you all gave made Christie's wedding one of the most beautiful events I have ever experienced. Here are a few photos of the process:
Samantha, there is nothing more precious than a little baby. You did a great job hanging in there for such an exhausting time. We loved seeing you and your expectant "look". Pretty soon there will be a new "nut" to add to the Southworth Family Tree. We can't wait to meet him (I'm sure you can't wait either!!)

baby shower!!
so here are like three pictures of the event, they were all thumbnail pictures so I couldnt tell which ones they were going to be. Anyways, if anyone wants more pictures, let me know. Thankfully the shower was a surprise to Sam, and thanks to nathan for putting up with her when she was getting cranky that day. Thanks also to everyone who helped mom and I (aunt cindy and josh made a fabulous watermelon baby carriage and aunt kathy came up with two sweet games!!!) She made it through Christies wedding, and now I'm sure she's ready for the little guy to come out! Mom, I think you had some really fantastic ideas, and I'm glad we got to plan the shower together, it was alot of fun. Sorry I lost our coupon. haha!
