Casey is still in bed, so I thought I'd jump on here and share some of the weekend's events. Friday night after dinner, we went out to the beach. The water was really warm! We splashed around a bit and then came back in to watch some bad tv and go to sleep.
Yesterday we stayed very busy. We got up and went out to play in the ocean for a little bit. Then we went to the old Air Force base for the Beach Boogie Barbeque Festival. There was a car show, how convenient, and a lot of other stuff to do. Casey stood in a VERY long line to get his barbeque lunch and I guess it was pretty tastey. Then the big event of the day- which was the whole reason we went and Casey was very excited- was the World Championship BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich Eating Contest. It was disgusting. Haha! But there were some ranked eaters there, including Joey Chestnut, who abolished the Nathan's Hot Dog record this past Fourth of July. Well, he broke another record yesterday- he's the number 1 competitive eater in the world, so I guess that's his job. The record was 23, he ate 45! Let's just say I don't care if I ever see another eating contest again! Haha! :) Here are some pics and a video... so that we can all share in the grossness of competitive eating. (Joey is to the left of the guy with the Mohawk).
And finally, last night we went to Boardwalk at the Beach for dinner. Of course, it was around 7PM, on a Saturday, so the first place we went said a 2 or more hour wait! Everywhere was like that though, so we went back to Margaritaville and got lucky to find a place at the bar- the end of the bar, tucked away in our own little corner- and that was great! We've been to the Margaritaville in Orlando too, and it's always a fun place to eat. Plus, the margaritas are delicious! :) After dinner, we hung out for a bit outside in the beach chairs and I helped embarrass some kids whose parents said they'd pay them $10 to do the YMCA. Yeah, I did the old dance with them... with music of course! :) They were very cute! After that we watched fireworks and headed home to bed. It was a great day!
Oh, and at Boardwalk on the Beach- underneath all the boardwalks- were the most creepy fish I've ever seen. They floated along the top of the water, and when people threw food in, the fish would practically swim/crawl all over each other to get it and their mouths would open in big puckers... it was pretty much as gross as the eating contest. Haha. TTFN!
