Jenn and RBI hope I'm not stealing Jenns thunder, she may have wanted to post this herself....but last night she was awarded 2007 Volunteer of the Year by Robert Bryant and Linda Addante who are the directors of Second Growth. They are also the leaders of the Making Change group that both Jenn and Sam attend. She was recognized because of her time, honesty, "keeping it real" at meeting and reaching out to other young women who are stuggling with addiction. She was awarded the plaque that you see in the pictures but because my camera is crap, it's impossible to make out the words. Maybe she can post what it says. All the members of the board were present at the ceremony as well as other panel members. Needless to say Jim and I are VERY proud of Jenn!

Hey, thanks everyone! I was pretty nervous, I didn't know if I needed to make a speech so I pretty much ran up there, grabbed it, and ran back to my seat. I could feel my heart pounding in my throat. It was sweet though. My hair blends into the walls of those pictures, but that's alright. Anyways, my plaque (wait, isn't that nasty white stuff in your teeth?) says: On this day, February 7,2008, Second Growth expresses our sincere gratitude to Jenn Rice for her countless hours of outstanding volunteer service. She has demonstrated courageous leadership in helping to build a stronger network of support for young women in the communities that we serve.
