Wishing Mom & Scott

A very happy anniversary!
Wow, where have the past 24 years gone?

I always manage to forget on the actual day if Thanksgiving comes after the 23rd. In my mind, the day of your wedding is the day after Thanksgiving. Yikes. Would I be way off this year! In any case, I was thinking about you, and if our phone hadn't died, I would have called.

I hope your day was filled with blessings.
Love, Cindy :)

Phillips Family Update

Well, here is the latest:

Darrell is enjoying his semi-retirement. Actually, we all enjoy having him home. There is a sense of "normal" around here, well sort of. :)

Cindy is having some time off, not for good behavior. :( I have a ventral hernia in my stomach area, which means surgery is likely. YUCK! There is only so much TV to watch...

Nate left for the Persian Gulf. I have not heard more than that. Colen moved to a safer region of her country, but her family still resides near the terrorists.

DJ is enjoying hunting season, but with his work schedule, needs more sleep.

Brian is doing well with school. He checked out the youth center this week and decided, like many of us, he does not "get" his peers.

Ruth is getting along well in school. We have been practicing how to find something nice to say about the person we don't like, and how that can change relationships.

Bobby, Chrissy, and the girls are all doing well, too. We are heading to their house for Turkey day, and looking forward to it!

Oh, and Grandpa is getting ready to go out and start cutting trees in the next few weeks.

That is our update, what about yours?

Phillies

Hey--So, for one thing I am sad that no one has posted in a long time. Also, here is a movie of the videos I took when the Phillies won the World Series. Just a very small taste of how crazy it was.

Dear sister (Karen to the rest of you nuts),

You cannot give me websites to look at when I am bored and have nothing better to do because currently, that describes my job. I could share so many cuteoverload photos that made me "awww" and laugh out loud (yes, at work- I'm the crazy secretary lady), but this one made me laugh out loud... over and over again... every time I look at it.

HAHAHAHA!

Love, Christie

Hope everyone has smiled today! :)

Research Subject? Carriage Driver?

I knew when I moved to a new city that I would have some fun experiences and Philadelphia has not let me down. Especially when it comes to discovering the many ways you can make money. You all know about my adventures with the MRIs and now that I have finished, I will be getting $400 and the chance to do other research trials and make some more cash. I told many of you that I had a job at Target when I saw you in Connecticut, but as it turns out some stuff happened that prevented them from getting my drug test results in time, which means they rescinded the job offer. Needless to say, that freaked me out a little, since I finally felt like I was getting somewhere.
^Superfluous adorable picture to make my post look more interesting.

Well, this was Friday and I decided to go for a walk to work out my frustrations and it just so happens that I live just a couple blocks from some horse stables where one of the Philadelphia carriage companies runs out of. I go there all the time and think that I would love to have a job there just so I could play with the horses, so I went in to see if I could just do a stable hand sort of thing, but they didn't have any openings. They did have openings for carriage drivers though and apparently you don't need any experience, they train you completely and so I applied and they said that I should come in to ride along with someone for a day to see if it was something I really want to do. So I did and it was great. Except that it was freezing and I did not dress warmly enough. But it was really fun being around the horses and I even got to drive the carriage around the block. How awesome would that be??! Well, it would be awesome but the pay is commission and business is not very good during the winter, so I'm afraid it wouldn't be stable enough financially at this point.

Again, has nothing to do with my post, but HELLO, can you stop giggling? Because I couldn't.

I would go for it if it were my only prospect but it just so happens that Sunday night I got an e-mail from Macy's asking me to set up an interview time. I had applied there a while ago online so I set up an interview for Tuesday. There were six other people there and we had a group interview, which was weird, but we all got hired! So yeah, I have a full time job in the Better Sportswear department at Macy's. I don't know what better sportswear is, or if I just misunderstood what they were telling me, but I'm pretty excited. It's only seasonal and ends in January unless I do really well, then they could offer me the job permanently. Unfortunately, it also means that I might have trouble getting home for the holidays, but I'll figure that out when the time comes. It also only pays $7.50 an hour, which is not enough to pay all my bills, what with college loans and all that, but it's a good start. I may just end up getting a waitress or hosting job for two or three nights a week to supplement my income a little. But anyway, that is my exciting news of the week.

P.S. If you are wondering where I got those pictures from and want to waste away time and annoy everyone around you with constants AAAWWWWs and 'OH MY GODs' in squeaky voices, go to cuteoverload.com. You're welcome.

Halloween and such

ELLO ALL! Well... I know it was my job to post on the blog about our halloween events....but Moms memory stick for her computer is to huge to fit into my laptop...and I forgot to bring it with me back to the house to try to upload it here...so I promise I will next time I'm out.

I'll give you a run down of the costume attire-

Joshua was Daffy Duck! He told me mom and sam we could vote on what he would wear....and we all yelled the duck costume. he wasn't very thrilled about wearing the orange tights...but he looked so cute anyways. he said the costume showed off the best part of his bod (his legs--minds out of the gutter!) haha.
nathan was a wizard with a painted on beard. (when I wore this costume in like sixth grade I was supposed to be the pope. haha)
sam let me paint her face like a devil which included horns stuck to her forehead that sort of resembled nips. they didn't stay on very good, but she was cute anways!
mom was a pirate who let me paint an eye patch on her and she wore a bandana.
Moms friend was Sarah Palin with a cardboard cut out of mccain stuck to her shoulder (her name is leee aannnnneee but i don't know how to spell it haha)
and i was a frog. i bought this aweful frog mask from newbury but didn't choose to wear anything else that would resemble a frog. but i was a smoking frog. i bought one of those really long stick things you where you put your cigarette on the end of it. but i only bought it so i could smoke with my mask on even though i didn't attempt it because i would suffocate from the lack of ventilation.
logan was a pumkin with a candy corn hat, and his first halloween he was pretty cranky but we enjoyed his company anyways.
nana wore her pumkin earrings and a happy halloween sweater. we tried to get her to lay down on our driveway so we could outline her body in chalk but she didn't want anything to do with that.

so all and all it was a blast and we had a lovely visit from gramma and aunt kathy. i'll post pictures soon i promise! haha

oh, and not to write a novel, but i also am currently trying to get a job at valley vista which is a rehabilitation center in bradford, vt. so everyone please pray that i get this job because i really want it! i would be working with people staying at the center and talking about recovery and such. i don't really know much about the position other than taht because i actually haven't even called them yet but i sent an e-mail and mailed them my resume. talk to everyone soon!

Crazy Times in Philadelphia!

Ok, so like a million things have happened in the past week, but I don't want to go on and on so I'll try to keep it short and sweet but include everything that has been going on. So here goes.

NUMBER ONE!
Phillies win the World Series!!!!

Last Wednesday the Phillies won the World Series for the first time in 28 years and needless to say, the city went CRAZY. We all (me, nester, kyle, kyle, and dan) went into Center City to celebrate and it was out of control.
We're excited!

Those pictures and the video give a vague idea of what it was like, but basically the streets were completely packed and the noise was constant. Then Friday was the parade, which we sort of saw and was similar in terms of people in the streets.

So that was the World Series.

AND THEN

NUMBER TWO!
Halloween!!!

Some of Kyle's friends had a Halloween party at their house so we went to that. It was fun. Of course, I put off planning my costume so I ended up with pregnant zombie and then decided to put on this costume I got from the circus and wore that. I was any combination of pregnant zombie alien/circus performer/ziggy stardust/MIA/80's skier

These guys are hard to explain if you don't know the joke, but basically we add 'bro' into anything, which just means that stereotypical frat guy sort of thing. So Kyle was Rambro and Nester was Squantbro.

We talked about how for Halloween a lot of people just get away with being 'sexy' anything, so Dan went as sexy Olenick (a friend of ours) who was at the party dressed as a bag of leaves.

NUMBER THREE
MRIs

Today I finished the research study I was doing. I had to go in two days and it went like this: They take blood. I go in the MRI for half an hour then come out. Then I take the pill (either the actual medication or a placebo) and then go in for another half hour. Then I wait two hours and go in again. This time I did a short memory activity to stimulate the brain and stuff. It was pretty cool, but I'm kind of glad it's over. It's really hard to lay that still for so long in a tiny place.

Well, that doesn't seem like a million things, but it seemed like a million. But also Dan's brother Aidan got here Saturday so we've been entertaining him. And Tuesday I volunteered for a couple of hours with the Obama campaign, just going around making sure people had voted. And then we watched the election on tv and stayed out until the wee hours of the morning celebrating.

President-elect Barack Obama in Philadelphia last month.

YAY! I POSTED! AND IT'S A NOVEL!! Hope you all enjoyed. I think I got all of it...

Hey, I posted

But not here....
Sorry :)

We went to Mystic Village to start, and finished at Uncle Bill's. It is the only time I go over there, and it was nice to catch up with everyone. Ruth had company going from door to door. Not that she needed it. She talked to each and every person that handed her a treat. :)

Darrell and Wally

The Joker- Nate

And last, but not least:

Bindi Erwin: "Don't you just love his eyebrows?"

Brian dressed up in Goth and headed out with Anji before I had a chance to snap his picture. DJ went from work to Erin's, so I guess he was a plumber. I just sat back and enjoyed my $4.00 coffee from the Village Beanery.
